My brand new 8800 GT's FPS just dropped in half within seconds after OC'ing...

****... I just installed my new 8800 GT today and right after I OC'd it lightly, I checked the fuzzy cube in ATITool and it read about 1150 average FPS right? Well I tried a COH benchmark just for kicks to see the comparison of my new card. When I close out of it I restart ATItool again to check things out and my average FPS is now 500-600!!!

I even ran Mass Effect and it runs just as slow as my 8800 GTS did! Jesus Christ! What just happened?

Do you have the newest drivers? Did you try the old ones?

Wow this is really odd... I just checked now and its back up to 1150FPS. My clocks were set to 718/1000. I ran ATI Tool for about 10 minutes with no errors. =/

Basically its jumping from 500-1000-500-1000FPS

Temps are at 65c load.

Oh, some programs will do that, if you run free download manager with ATITool, the fps suck. Just get rid of all the programs you're not using in the task manager, then check it out. :d

If i'm running ATITool, then I turn on FDM, the frames drop significantly.

Yeah... but I'm still shocked at how crappy this card has been performing today...

I loaded up Mass Effect and get like an average of 15 FPS on medium-high settings. I'm using the most current drivers, so I'm sure that's not the problem...

I went from a 8800 GTS 320 to this 8800 GT and overall FPS wise I've seen no gain in performance...

I am going to have to say that cpu and memory are bottle necking... 3dmark would allow you to see that as well if you have run it. 8800gt should score in the range of 13000-14000 on a dual core.
