In Warcraft 2 BNE, Starcraft, and Diablo they had advertisements on the screen whenever you connected to b.net. Most of them were blizzard related but some of them werent. If you clicked on the banners, it would minimize the game and open a browser window for ya. I can't remember if it was in Diablo II or not. It might have been. Their banner was always located across the top of the screen.

Get the ads out of my games before I get a REAL rocket launcher and show you nubs how it works first-hand...

If you really must have billboards, do like Rockstar does and make up funny, witty things to put on them so that you will stop, read and lol at the billboards instead of being greeted by Billy Mays, who you can hear yelling about f'n OxyClean THROUGH THE DAMN JPG! ><

If the in game advertisement doesn't lag me by showing an extra screen I don't mind. But if it's just a sign on the road where I'm driving, that's fine. If the page has like 8 or 9 banners, that annoys me.

I don't mind them either...not like just 'cause say you're playing on AMD and you see an Intel billboard you're gonna suck at the game.

I'm totally fine with in-games, but it depends on where they are placed.

Places that are fine:

1. PC screens
2. Billboard in racing games and on the side walls
3. Posters in markets. For example, Hellgate: London. I only saw ads in places that had store NPCs.

Places that are not fine:

1. Random spots in the middle of a battle field.
2. Limited usage or else in-game spam, lol.

Cheaper games with in-game ads (I highly doubt they'll make it completely free), or no ads at all if the prices for the consumer does not go down.

The only time I have an issue with them is when they are obtrusive or when they don't fit in with the world. Also, if you're going to plaster a game with ads, lower the price.

As for Blizzard: b.net was a free service. If you played single player, there were no ads. If you play WoW, there are no ads. It's fine to have an ad-supported free service.

But if its like the billboards and all in Prostreet, BF2142, I'm perfectly fine as it makes the game lots more realistic.

But if the games free...
i totally agree i mean a lot of FPS or other things as others in this thread have mentioned have cities which have billboards or racing games we all know have sponsor in real life and I don't mind companies advertising on those at all. It DOES make things more realistic and dynamic as well so the game does change relatively. If it's like a pop up or gets in the way on the other hand then I'd be pissed. They should attract you naturally or be conveniently placed not be forced or you make someone hate you your company and your product no matter what or how good it is.
