Help Needed With SLI 8800GT G92s

Thread Starter
I have 2 8800GT G92 cores and Installed them together with SLI bridge connector. The PC starts but goes straight into windows. It dont post unless i take a card out.It did start run normal at first it was after a restart it just skipted the post screen and booted straight into windows. Also when i start a game or benchmark the screen goes purple or another colour.Do you think i have enough juice? I have a 500w Jeantech [JNP-500],Best you can get in PC World at the timeof purchace.I know i will have to upgrade it anyway as im thinking of getting a Q6600 or Q6700 & new motherboard.and then i know that the 500w will no way cut it.It is all set up correct and reading the 2 cards in system settings ext.Useing latest drivers too and motherboard has the latest bios installed [v3.10]. Any help at all would be aprecheated ,Sys specs below.
So my other question is really what size power supply should i get? and it has to be from here www.pcworld.co.uk 1000w? 700w? Ill leave it to all your good knowledge

Thank you in advance.

Two GTS's will need at least a solid 650/700 watt PSU. Gimme a second and I'll try to find a good one.

This is a good one.

I would go with the first Cooler Master one. Also, if you are buying a new PSU (which you must to run SLI), DO NOT purchase another Jeantech one! They are a no-name brand and the higher wattage units will probably have trouble supplying their intended amps.

My guess is you're low on power. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005
would probably work.

Normally that would probably boot with a 500w, but i dunnow what a "jeantech" is- most budget-brand psus really aren't good for their rated wattage, or have it on the wrong rails.

:/ Are you guys really that screwed on prices?

I wouldn't reccomend the higher wattage OCZ psus. THe lower wattage ones are fine, but the more powerful ones can have a fair amount of ripple under load (mine has been fine so far though)

Corsair 650W is still my reccomendation- Get a better quality unit with enough wattage, rather than a cheaper but bigger one.

^^ Yep we are screwed that much on prices, although pcworld is probaly more expensive than anywhere else. I was kinda suprised at the prices too, a Q6600 from there costs £175! When you can get it from somewhere like scan or aria for under £130.. I really wouldn't buy your PSU from Pcworld unless you really have no other choice..

Thanks guys for the feed back.As im from the UK NewEgg ext will not ship to the UK and i asked if they ever will and apparently there working on it at the moment so hopefully in a ear or so we may get some better priced deals .Just like you guys do over the pond in the US.
Ill have to use my partners Visa card and as you say use one of the online shops as there way cheaper than the shops.
Yeah PC Worls has the best choice of power supplys compared to any were else over here.
Maplin is a rip of shop [big store] and about 50% more expensive on PC parts than PC world.
Other shops all have PSUs like AroCool,QTech,And unbranded ones thats why i chose PC world as a starter.
As the other PSUs are awfull & i wouldnt touch with a barge pole.
ORRR and i forgot to mention .My PC is running fine now with the 5oow PSU in SLI .[Still getting a 65ow Minimum and proberly a 700w +].It was set incorrect in the bios.Checkted rails with various apps and all are fine but ill not risk it.Pluss this 500w can be a good back up.
Getting 12,889 on 3D Mark 2oo6 ,Latest build and at 1280 x 1024 stock bench settings.
Maybe motherboard as cards are v2.0 PCI-E and board aint i do not think. And one cards running at 16x and other at 8x.Not 100% sure this is normal or its the board itself.
Which again im geting a new one and my first Intel CPU.
Mybe a Q66oo Oor 67oo any sugestions on a CPU as im stuck on this as the Q66oo and above are getting long in the tooth....Aint they?
Im not sure but i do know there great CPUs and walk all over my Black Ed 64oo+ Duel Core.
Anyone wanna swap a Q66oo or Q67oo 4 a 64oo and some cash?
Pm me if so.Still got box and recipt and is around 6 months old.

Sorry for the rant

EDITED: "piggy 1918" "Markatto" & "GeforceGTS" 1 REP Each for feed back & help thank you again.

Worry more about the amps on the 12v rail not the number of watts. You could go buy a cheap 500W PSU, but if its got a 10 amp 12v rail you're screwed.

Try a different SLI bridge. I had the exact same problem but 'blue'

Changed bridge, went away.
