I was thinking about picking up a GTX 280 because I just finished building my rig yesterday, except it is going to cost me $800 over here in Japan.....alot for a GPU that is why I was hoping these would be coming out sooner so I would have something to compare with.

Maybe I am missing something, but how big a deal is a few days? I keep seing people get irate when the ATI/nvidia product is pushed back a bit. I mean, how many people will buy one or the other just because they don't want to wait a week? I, personally, am willing to wait a few weeks just to see the overall performance whith one or 2 driver updates.

You should definitely wait for this. 2 4850 XFire'd cost less than the GTX280 and can easily beat it.

Like the saying goes. "Good things are worth waiting for".

First of all, isn't this FAR from proven yet?

Also, who wants two 4850s in CF? If you're going to do that, just get two 4870s.

'Cause they are cheaper. I am waiting to see what the 4870 can do, but I can see a lot of people getting one 4850 now and another in a few months. thats some great performance, especially if you are on a budget and can't afford one, high-end card. It allows you to effectively buy your performance in stages.

If the 9800GX2, basically just two 8800GTS's in SLI, can give the 280 a run for its money, there is a decent chance that two 4850 in crossfire can beat the 280.
