Yeah Im thinkin that the pixel shaders and other various things in the card will make for much better gameplay while the core/mem clock will keep the FPS close to the same...

smother playing with better texture quality..

Quality is important considering 60hz refresh rates make anything over that in FPS a wash..

hows the heat/noise level on it?

If you step-up then why go for the normal stock GTX 280 when you can get the FTW GTX 280.

Did you ever notice MS(micro-stuttering) when gaming/benching with your prior 2x GX2 multigpu setup? It seems some people swear MS exists while others refute it, I can't comment as I have never owned a multigpu setup...

Agreed but the 1 Gb of memory and the higher bus is huge regarding how smooth game play is.
I never noticed the fan. Hard to compare noise to the GX2s as they were on water. These will be too.

I have a feeling FTW speeds will be attainable for nothing.

Yes, definitely. The GX2s did as a result of the 512Mb of RAM. Tri 8800GTX was smoother.
Some games there was no MS at all. Others it was very noticeable. Resolution, in game settings and control panel options have a large effect.

Well, all I can say is that your single GTX280 GPU score on performance is only 892 points higher (8993 vs. 9885) with the rig below. Not much better at P than two OC'd 9600GTs in SLI

Ye except imagine 3g was slower in some situations, and the new iPhone cost 150$ more, not less

^ Is it not obvious?! GTX280 is a huge waste of money. It's $/performance ratio is horrible, and choosing almost anything blindfolded is likely to be better than going for the GTX280.

I think where the GTX280 actually provides a benefit is at extremely high resolution gaming, like in excess of 1920 x 1200. But let's be realistic, how many of us actually run games that high? And even that is not because of its superior technology that makes things faster or more efficient but rather due to having more of everything compared to most other cards. It is like adding more horsepower by building a bigger engine instead of improving the technology of the smaller engine to get more performance out of it. I guess NV adopted the North American car manufacturer methodology
