Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Quick question: Does anyone know the difference between Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Flight Simulator X deluxe edition?

I'm wondering because I'm thinking about getting it and I'll buy the cheaper one if it's not much different.

So it's not really worth the extra $20 then? Is there maybe another flight sim I should look into as well?

What kind of flight sim are you looking for? FS X is a good sim, but is known to be very similar to the previous release, FS 2004. I really liked IL2 Sturmovik. Its a WWII flight sim with amazing damage effects and tons of different missions. If you want straight commercial aircraft however, I would go with the flight simulator series.

I have FS2004 and FSX, and FSX has much better graphics, textures and it's more of a simulation...

For example in FSX, now you can toggle the seat belts sign in the 737 and you can look around in the virtual ****pit... that by itself is cool... It's definitely a massive improvement from FS2004....

If I were you, I would just get the regular FSX rather than the delux, which is not worth it, since you can download planes online for free anyways!

For an extra edge, there is an FSX for flight school... haven't tried it, but it teaches you flight school techniques and navigation much closer to real life ...

The Flight Simulator series give you the most amount of options IMO, and there's an excellent user base making planes and models and interiors for it (though its getting hard to beat the include MS aircraft..)

I've also never seen a flight sim happily span across multiple screens like FS does.. Its the one Microsoft product i've been vuying for 15+ years and never complained about spending money on.

As far as deluxe, its not worth it imo

EDIT:

Their flying tutorials are EXTREMELY similar to the kinds of things an instructor sitting next to you would say. (I've never heard the computer mutter wishes of bad fortune on a bogged down tower though )

I forgot about IL2 until you mentioned it! Newegg actually has IL2 plus the forgotten battles expansion for $10. Thx for the idea

EDIT: Maybe I'll get both 2 games for <$45 shipped is pretty good imo!

I went ahead and ordered Microsoft Flight Simulator X and IL 2: Sturmovik (Forgotten Battles expansion pack included). I'll probably get them on Monday.
