Help with first liquid cooling!!! EVGA 780i

Thread Starter
Hi. I want to start using liquid cooling on my computer. My computer runs very hot at the moment I am running an Intel e6750 and I want to overclock to 3.2ghz. I have 8 gig of ram (4 2gig modules), and 2 8800gtx's that idle at about 72 degrees C . I want to cool off my video cards, my processor, and I don't know if I should liquid cool my chipset or not . If so, what do I need to do to cool off my chipset? any help would be greatly appriciated

If you are planning to watercool the CPU and GPU, get:

D-Tek FuZion V2...........................................63.95 USD
Reservoir/T-Line............................................De pends
Swiftech MCP655 Pump...................................79.95 USD
DD 8800GTX Block.........................................100i sh USD
Swiftech MCR-320 Radiator.............................49.99 USD

Go feel your chipset heatsink. If it feels burning hot during full load, then you probably need better cooling there.

I personally wouldn't get liquid cooling for your E6750 and your 8800GTXs. Better heatsinks should be a better investment.

well for CPU and 2x GPU I'd go with more than just a single 360mm radiator

I believe that liquid cooling would be better than air because I plan to do a little overclocking. The chipset is hot, especially the MCP. For the EVGA 780i, I don't know what I should use to cool the chipset and leave enough room for my 2 8800gtx's. (the 8800's are the real reason that I want to liquid cool.) The whole computer runs extremely hot and I want to cool it way down. Thanks for the advise so far, but I want some help with the whole chipset idea

HAH nice Geo that was completely random. but i would recommend a Black Ice GTX 420mm Rad or the new Fesser Rad or even the ThermoChill Rad. just go for a 320mm if ur cooling the Cpu and graphics. if you set your loop up well then you should notice that you can get it several C lower. try Lapping you cpu. theres a good thread on here about that. go look in the FAQ section.

What case are you using? are you getting sufficient airflow where the case is situated? Any fans the wrong way? These can greatly effect the temperature of your PC, simply moving your tower could help you.

North Bridge: You could use an Antec Spotcool fan if you want to remain on air, or Viper John makes a NB water Block. HEe also has a 780i "kit"
