I say 'center' support beam as its also supported on both sides of the 120mm fan and on both sides of the 80mm fan for the heatpipe cooler. This 'H' Design double re-inforces the top, so that the weight of the dvdrom, added legos, and PSU+cooling+acrylic plate dont collapse the whole top inward.

actually, it didnt take much time.. only an afternoon, which wasnt too bad considering the amount of legos/work that went into fabricating this lol.

As for geekyness.. guilty as charged

Well, like everything else, what goes up, must come down

After basically doing nothing for a number of months I powered it off. It remained powered off for two weeks before I realized just how much I actually *dont* need that computer. I then sold the parts that were inside it. In order to obtain access, I had to destroy (gently) the lego case. I took pics of it as I disassembled it, for those who had some questions which my mspaint skills failed at describing

here goes:

First, off came the PSU Shroud.

Then, out came the psu, plexi plate, and dvdrom. Left partially exposed now is the motherboard and hdd.

Next, I had to remove quite a few layers of chassis-wall, and the self-enforcing column top-end. If you notice at this point the case is slightly bowed outward.. this is from all the pulling I had to do to get my lego's off in large chunks instead of one-by-one. I guess that means it was pretty strong lol. Left is the HDD, secured top, sides and bottom, suspended carefully over the motherboard.

Out comes the HDD and front 120mm fan. Almost fully exposing the board.

Board fully exposed, walls torn down

Board out, motherboard plate left.

Half a garbage bag full of legos is what it took to build this case. Utterly Amazing! I am tempted to try it with laptop components next. Would a lego laptop be epic or what?

Lego laptop eh? I don't think I'd trust it structurally when it's being moved around frequently.
