Help me upgrade my cousins computer!

Thread Starter
I know little about AMD systems. In fact, I forgot the exact system specs of my cousins computer that I ordered for him last year (I ordered, my dad assembled the parts and set it up, so I don't remember all the details).

This summer, he wants to upgrade. He loves to play games like CS and WOW. Doesn't even have source... he doesn't know what he's missing.

Rig:
AMD X2 4000+
Gigabyte board (it was a combo deal, dont remember model)
1GB RAM (Not value ram, has heat spreader on it)
1x160GB HD
Nvidia GeForce 7600GT (I think... it's definitely not better than a 7900GT)
Raidmax case w/ side window and two 90mm fans (these things are freaking LOUD! I think he wants to replace them)
WinXP (32bit)
Basic mouse (microsoft optical) and keyboard combo

He wants to spend around $300-350. Upgrades include KB, Mouse, games, hardware, etc.

I am going to sell him my Crucial Ballistix Tracers 2x1GB DDR21066, and I suggested purchasing a new black edition processor, and some new case fans.

Help me hook him up??

A HD3850 seems perfect for a graphic card since it can hande almost any game with a resonable fps, and you got ram coverd.

But as for cpu, i have no idea

keyboard, maybe a G15 and mouse should be something that fits him.

get a 5000 BE for the processor, more than enough juice at a reasonable price.

for the vid card, go with either a 8800GT, 9600GT, or an 8800GTS based on how much he can afford for that. If u want to go for ATI, check out the 3850, 3870, or the 4 series cards, but i dont know if the 4 series will be in his price range.

for the keybaord, i have a saitek eclipse. Nothing too fancy, but very responsive and durable, backlit keys are SWEEEEEET!!!

For the mouse, i use a Microsoft/Razer Habu, great gaming mouse but thats usually personal preference for the user IMO

Heres what i came up with to leave u money left over for a mouse and games or to leave u room to get a better vid card or other upgrade if u want.

This comes to about $280 with s/h. It will really up his computer's performance.

I think this is a little overbudget after the RAM

Is the HD3850 the card that was competing with the G80 8800GTX last year? (IDK ATI products)

thank you very much for the help! I think the mouse is more important than a keyboard anyways. Thank you though!

i am almost 100% positive that the 3850 was not competing with the 8800GTX. 8800GTX is still an awesome card, it was probably the 3870 X2 or maybe a superclocked 3870 but most likely not a 3850 for ATI. If hes looking for a better mouse. Razer mice r the way to go. Either Razer or the Logitech G5 is very nice as well.

Microsoft Habu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...crosoft%2bHabu <-- what i have. Very responsive and comfortable and made by microsoft and razer.

Razer Copperhead
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826153022 very good mouse for high end gamers

deathadder posted above is another awesome razer mouse.

Logitech G5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826104076Really cool mouse, super responsive and has its own weight kit so the user can adjust the weight of the mouse to their comfort. very cool
