4870X2 will be better choice, wait till at least 2 versions of drivers pass before buying them - in the real world - this means wait 2-2.5 months before buying them

Then second one in another month or so if you feel that card is not enough muscle

You should be able to use it... It's a P35 chipset, so I don't see why not.

And I like Nvidia too, but ATI's cards are going to be priced right at where I'm aiming for in my rig.

Ya, i am a little dissapointed in the GTX280's price tag. If the 4870x2 does in fact destroy the GTX280 then I would deffinately convert.

Soo the reviews have been and we all know what's out there...

I think that for budget/performance 2x4850 should do the trick for my oncomming G24 predator right?

Hehe A friend of mine tested Crysis on his 4850 today(or this night) and we tested which card that was best my 8800GTX(not SLi active) vs his.
Both have the same CPU and 2GB with XP, Crysis with everything at high. and his runs better at 1280x1024 no AA cuz my ran at around 20-30FPS he's at 40-50FPS
but once we added AA his card droped to 4-5 FPS on AAx8 while mine still stod on 16-19FPS on AAx16Q.
Well his cardis a mid section but dang, almost two years newer than mine but still. so my question is HOW many fps does the 4870 perfom without CF with AAx16?
I'm in the same spot with a 1920x1200 rez so It MUST handle AAx8+ and 1920x1200.
4870X2 must have better AA performance if I'm'a upgrading to it...

I'm really not worried much about AA atm, but that's a good insight... I may get my screen then upgrade to a 4870 and a few months ahead get another 4870.
