they already made one.. and to be honest with you pretty shi** online is one of the worse things to ever happen to a great rpg game.....


theres a few games that i have scored well over 100 hours in and they are probably not your normal 100 hour games.. like GT3 hell it was like a 40 hour a week game that i played for years.. if only i got paid over time to play it i could of retired by now.. same thing for Dead or Alive 4.. doa4 mostly being its online content.. but the game i logged the most hours on would have to be the first Motogp for xbox and it was a combo of replay the game over and over to rebuild new bikes for online play and then online play as well..

I almost never get a game for the campaign. It just gets very boring very quickly playing by yourself and knowing that it is a computer and it's only going to do a certain number of things and then if you've already beaten it, you already know what it's going to do so it sucks even more afterwards. I WILL NOT buy a game unless it has multiplayer because multi is much more of a game to me because it is actually intelligence involved and everybody does different things at any moment and it is basically completely random and you never know how the outcome will be.

I beat Metal Gear Solid 4 yesterday, after 22 hours and 18 minutes.

I think it's a pretty good length for a game. Halo 3 and COD4 were good, but they're getting on the short side. GTA has always been a long game because the missions are fairly generic things, it's not too hard to put more in.

Also keep in mind, GTA may have taken 100 million to make, but it took in 500 million in a week. I'd say that's a success by any measure.

The game industry needs to take a step back from doing 100% of the work. GTA4 took ages to come out and millions of dollars to make, yet the actual storyline could probably be written, scripted, and implemented by a team of 5 programmers in no more than a week.

What we need to be doing more of is letting the computer do the work, since it can literally work thousands of times faster. We should have algorithms that can produce cities, forests, dungeons, and any other kind of setting just by setting a few characteristics and clicking a button. Not only would this free up a significant amount of time and resources, if we could do the same thing for quests and missions we could get back to the early days of game development where its different every time!

I seriously think more time should be put into this, because what we have right now is pretty simplistic. Games like Civilization 4 show us that we can generate pretty realistic worlds, we have expanded that into not just saying "there is a forest here" but actually populating it randomly, like Oblivion does. If the script puts a river through fertile grassland the program could think "hey, a city could probably go here!", when it would proceed to actually build that city and populate it with people! Now expand that to collections of cities forming nations, possibly with rivalries, and depending on what timeline you selected you have 90% of the work done for any game from Oblivion, to GTA4 to Call of Duty 4. You could have a computer do what would take a team of 30 or more developers months in a day or two.

100 hour games are entirely possible, but not if we continue to program every last grain of sand. Hopefully in the near future the idea of people designing every last detail by hand will be as strange as having a company right an entire graphics engine complete with its own proprietary design tools by hand is today. (rather than just using say the source engine and 3dsmax)

That's generally what I hate about most multiplayer games. A bunch of assbag morons bunny hopping around like morons, trash-talking each other to prove the have an ePenis, and most likely pwning me hard is NOT my definition of a game. Give me the structured rule set that is (gasp!) predictableevery time. Probably why I like RPGs so much. Different strokes.

I agree. At the minute there is only 1 game that looks stunning, great gameplay and storyline. And its not even a PC title.

MGS4 looks graphically amazing. There isnt' even any aliasing and it runs smooth. Not to mention it being a fantastic SP game just like every other MGS

The multiplayer in it was better than I expected. A lot less lag than I usually see on 360 (I don't have a PS3, I borrowed it,) especially the mode where you have to hunt down Snake (or be Snake and hunt down random PMC players)
