Thanks for the great replies, some good suggestions there.

I have the Dell monitor already, it's quite good. I got it shortly after it's release so I realize I paid "too much" for it. But it was an upgrade to a 4 year old 19" so it was a nice treat and is still relevant today.

I don't have any current plans to use it as a theatre pc so thanks for the onboard sound suggestion. I will try that for now. Those Logi Z-5500 do look nice. So the "onboard" sound can output to a system like the Z-5500?

I already pulled the trigger on the DDR3 memory. Should have done more research on that....they came in at about $280 so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

The suggestions on the GPU(s) sound right to me and are confirming my thoughts on those. I'm leaning towards to 8800 GTS's cards. Am I correct in not seeing a big advantage with a 9 series card or SLI?

Again, thanks for the replies. This is a very good forum.

Cheers,

i say for the GPU that you wait until HD 4870 comes out so that you have more options.

Why don't you go with one 8800GT for now, then in 6 months, buy a 4870 or a GTX series card.

So the cards in SLI can be of different levels? How does that work? Or do you mean replace the 8800GT later? I realize now is not the best time to buy....maybe I will stretch out the build a few weeks.

All I have so far is case, psu, mb, cpu, ram, kboard, monitor.

Still need os, gpu, and accessories such as fans or processor coolers.

Sounds like a good suggestion as I hear many good things about the 8800GT.

Thank you
