Or should I wait till the next gen, chipsets come out for AMD?

The 7xx SB chip is due out soon... not sure when but its claimed to be advantageous not only to OCing the Phenoms but provide higher performance to some devices it manages too.

Both the new SB700 and SB800 are mapped to come out this year... sorry don't know when

Yeah Im waiting on the SB700 series of 790FX boards as well. I've scoured the net again and again, and can't find any hard data on a release date for those boards. Anyone have hard infoz?

I cant wait to see the OC's available on those boards. Might be exactly what AMD needs, almost like having a whole new upgraded series of processors without changing anything at all. A manufacturers dream of course.

One thing that some people don't *want* to understand is that with the integrated memory controller, the Phenom scales better as you overclock it, and thus its results at the top end will make many of the Dark-Side fanboi's cry on their rigs.

Quad Phenom at say.. 3.5Ghz-4Ghz with dual 4870's makes me drool...

I dunno, do you really think they will make the same chip OC higher cooler?

Thats a very good point... But if you can overclock higher with less voltage then temps should not change much from current setups. This may allow headroom for even high overclocks

AMD might just finally have a winner... Don't get me wrong, I love my setup, but this might be the icing on the cake.
