Yes, those are the numbers that were in my BIOS before I went to town on them. I'll see if I can get a screenshot of my BIOS (ala digial camera) to show you what I'm working with.

So what you're telling me is that I was correct in saying that my Mobo can't properly support my processor?

Prime95 has been going for a while now, it's at the 12k tests. Temp hasn't gone over 58°C, don't know if that's good or not.

Man, for as much of a computer geek as I am, I don't know squat about the hardware

you're doing OK. temps seem to be pretty good for max, although i would lower vcore. funny, i've seen people get up to 3.4 with the processor with lower temps. did you try lowering RAM speed? how about widening the timing?

There's something strange about the motherboard through... can you get a screenny of the bios for tweaking? Because look here:

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/979...ing/index.html

The max they acheived was a 304mhz, which is 1216 FSB. The problem is that your CPU is suppose to run at a default of 1333 FSB already.

The reason why your comp runs at 2.4 ghz default because your mobo forces your chip to run at 266mhz (x9 Multiplier gives u a 2.4ghz) ,and a 1066 FSB (4*266mhz) So to get this working, you'll have to tell it to have a multiplier of 9x, while seeting fsb to 1333 to give you your default 333mhz. At the same time, that's "overclocking" for your mobot cause your mobo's defualt is 1066FSB.

Since I'm limited to what Dell has in stock, this is the mobo that I'm looking to upgrade to. Any comments?

I've turned all of my OC'ing off for the time being. The fact that my current mobo doesn't support the default FSB of my processor bugs me. I'd rather not burn anything out.

The 790i Ultra requires DDR3. I suggest the EVGA 750i FTW, it overclocks very well and is very cheap.

That's $200 I don't have, bro. I have to get my stuff through Dell, as I have credit with them still :-)

But yeah, I just saw the DDR3 part...that kinda blows.

That's what I have to work with.

Nice combo I found there for ya! It should be relatively good RAM. How much money are you credited with Dell?

Yeah, I saw that too lol.

Just a couple payments short on that one...I have around $430 right now...end of next month should be good. Was trying to find something to get now, but seeing as I have no problems with my system running normally (i.e. no OC) I guess I can wait it out.

The biggest issue I have with this is I just spent the $$ to buy the ram I have now >< I got it about 2 months ago lol. Already gonna have to replace it, just because my mobo is a POS...

You can always sell both the mobo and RAM. You should have enough to buy the new stuff.
