[Incrysis/GR] Crytek Interview (Piracy, Warhead pics, and Sales) - Page 3

LOL... I also think this will be pirated worse than the first one. First time we wanted to buy the game cause it was a part of graphics history! This time, m'eh. I'll buy it but I doubt everyone else will be in the same boat.

Its funny how he says good games still get pirated just as much, when he actually makes a good game for once in his life maybe he can actually comment on that. I want to pirate warhead just to spite him tbh, but I'll just wait for reviews and most likely price drops first.

a: Well, we went into the torrent stats and there were charts for this. there was a statistic that there were around 15-20 pirated copies than sold. of course it doesnt mean we would sell 15-20 times more, but at least if piracy was lower, we would double our sales.
overall our sales were good, not excellent but we broke even.
I like this. "Where'd you find out how many copies of Crysis were pirated?"
"We went on the interwebz and looked it up..."

What a stupid assumption: "...if piracy was lower, we would double our sales." I bet he didn't have to sift through his excrement very long to find that one...

"If you were able to run Crysis before, Warhhead will run better"

Ahh yes so its only a less severe degree of hardware raping and only a minor level of sucking...this is quite a step forward for them!

"If we had no pirating at 15-20 times we could of doubled our sales!"

Pirates are never going to be customers...someone who pirates has a less than non-existant chance of ever buying your game in the first place since he/she decided to pirate it.......now if the game sucks horribly (Which Crysis did) then the spread of "Word of Mouth" kills it only a few days after launch and stale initial sales numbers!

And let us not forget the super-awesome-hack-free Multiplayer that came with it! An excellent Conquest Mode (God knows they didn't rip off any other FPS thats been made in the past 8 years) and Deathmatch! BRILLIANT!

No, a Pirate, pirates a game because its free, if there was no option they'd be force to buy it.
