[Incrysis/GR] Crytek Interview (Piracy, Warhead pics, and Sales) - Page 5

i think alot of people thought of it as a benchmark more than a game so they didn't want to pay for the game. you could use the demo to run the benchmark, but then you wouldn't get the patches which helped performance.

And lets not forget the fact that the horrible performance undermined ANY kind of redeeming qualities it MIGHT of had.

I find it ignorant that some people hate Crytek so much. (That sounded pretty strange ) Seriously, they named almost every flaw of Crysis, and showed how they were going to fix it. No more of this "unoptimized" crap. (http://tinyurl.com/6lnevd) They knew Crysis would not be able to be run on max settings at launch, but they thought gamers would want to have it anyway for when hardware improved. Well some gamers created a new word to describe how much they hated Crysis, and then started believing it was true. Seriously, show them some respect, Crytek knows their mistakes, and I don't even think they did much wrong.

They did a ton wrong.

They sold a game for $60.00 and lied to the consumers saying it could run on their machines.

I don't mind if a game requires some updated hardware (And I hated everyone on 6600GT's crying because they couldn't play Crysis) but the fact was NOBODY COULD.

Not even the TRI-SLI freaks could even play the game...it was ridiculous

Truth be told a lot of that hate is deserved. Crytek lied about what was needed to run the game on Very High (they mentioned a 640 mb 8800 gts), artificially limited Very High to Vista when it was perfectly possible to run it in XP AND get better performance, they didn't finish the game (after delaying it) since they though they could charge more for the rest, they didn't take enough anti cheating measures with multiplayer and they canceled the 1.3 patch just before announcing Crysis Warhead.
They also took it upon themselves to block everybody around the world from adding a rag doll and gore mod (since when do German rules about video game violence apply to the whole world?).

With Doom3 I remember people who had 6800's (Max at the time) and still lagged?

Or is my memory a bit foggy?

I also heard of people who had trouble on a 6800 GT but since I could play it smoothly with a 6600 GT at Ultra High @ 1240x1024 I suspect it was driver related or a particular problem with some 6800 GTs.

Hmm could be...

If you look at Crysis and discard ALL flaws with it performance-wise and look at the game itself I rate it a simple "Meh"

You have the SCAR(Inbred G36)/AK-47/Shotgun/Uzi/Rocket Launch/Useless alien weapons that suck.

So we can rule out any kind of "Creative" thinking when it came to the weapons, also the suit function were kinda "Nifty" but nothing that hasn't been done before in a different context (Leaping to high height, going invisible, and becoming retard strong)

Story-line was nothing new (Aliens crashed here millions of years ago and they're just now waking up...oh noes they sent out a distress beacon so now more of their friends are coming here!)

Multiplayer was slapped together 30 minutes before they started burning the DVDs and packing them in boxes. I remember my first Multiplayer game some guy was hacking because he was shooting 15 nukes every 8 seconds boy talk about fun.

You roll all of these problems together and that pisses somebody off enough as it is...toss in an inability to play this incredibly poorly designed, overhyped, steaming pile of crap and voila - you have some very pissed off consumers!

Do you even understand half the things you are saying? Seriously guys.
Honestly would you really believe them if they said a 8800GTS could run that game on Very High?
If you guys looked at the E3 interviews they were optimizing the game for a good amount of time before its release, and even then you guys are complaining that it cant run that well...

The game isn't mean to be easy on today's standard of graphics cards then and now, and you guys know that. Did anyone ever expect the game to run well on your PCs when it was released?
Crytek's primary goal was to make the most highly graphical shooter on the PC, and hell the game became a primary benchmark in a lot of reviews because of the way it stresses GPUs.
They admitted their mistakes and I don't see how complaining is ever going to help, be happy that they even released such a game yet release another one
