Try installing it with just four gigs of memory installed.

Or even just one stick of your RAM. I found that having such a pain in the neck mobo and not having any of the ICH7 drivers for it was a drawback. So, install your OS with 2gigs, (this won't effect the install.... much), update your mobo drivers immediately thereafter, and get the 8GB patch for Vista after that. After all that, you should be good.

yep, install with only 2 GB RAM. Many people have a problem installing Vista with more than 2GB, even though the RAM is recognized.

Does your version of windows have SP1 included? I just installed ultimate 64 bit with SP1 two days ago, with no problems, I had 4 GB installed the whole time.

Absolutely. It could just be the difference between home premium and ultimate.

It is a known issue. It has been fixed with SP1, but if you are not running SP1 at install, install with just 2Gb as others have said:

Microsoft
For those running into the problem of BSOD when trying to run more then 3Gb of ram on Vista, you need to run the KB929777 hotfix from microsoft. This hotfix applies to Vista, both 32 bit and 64 bit, so download the corresponding update.
