i installed riva tuner, because i just got a new palit 8800gt 500mb,but after running 3d mark06 or playing games.my desk top.and text in firefox is all blurry.for about 5 mins.so i thaught if i set the fan speed from 33% to 50% this might sort it.but if i set it to manaul 50% will the fan still speed up under stress ,when gameing ,or will it stay on 50% permanent.

Unfortunately, using RivaTuner only allows throttling or direct control which does not throttle. You can try Speedfan also. If anyone knows a trick, please let me know.

Sounds like you have another issue, if your card is not overclocked. You may have a bad card. Try updating the drivers and see if that helps.

Good Luck.

I'm sure you can edit the auto settings in rivatuner so the lowest it goes is 50% and it will go higher under load, I have mine set to 80% constantly so I havn't tried..

Actualy I just looked, I don't think you can ;x

I looked again You can, but you have to allow something in the power user settings within rivatuner..

It sounds like it to me. If you just bought it, why try to mess with a card that is already giving trouble?

I would return it before it is too late and the card craps out on you.

Good Luck.
