If you are scared you can just get a second weaker PSU (like an antec earthwatts) and ground it with this one. Put the CPU/mobo on the EW and the rest on the TX.

The answer is no. 3 gtx under load with an overclocked quad will run a 750w power supply (even a decent one which you have) at nearly 85% of its capacity. Power supplies are routinely tested at up to 80% of load for sustained periods of time.

At least an 850w as mentioned above. I went with the corsair 1000w with the intention of running TRI-SLI as well just to be safe.

look , heres with 1x9800 :

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=178783

thats an ENTIRE system......I have more than triple leeway!!!......by looking at that...im inclined to say that even 650W is sufficient!?

If i got the card...and indeed im short of power...what is WORSTE case scenario??...pc reboots??

I could run 3 8800GTX's on a single 850w PSU.

Could you do it? I bet so.

Would I do it? Probably not

At all components max load with an overclocked quad (~200w), you'd be almost exactly at 750 watts.

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

It won't do tri-sli, but I get about 600 watts for that setup with 2 cards. Add another 150 watts for the third card, and you're at 750 already. Almost all of the added load is going to be on the 12v rails too- I'm not sure how much that matters in your case.

I think that a lot of people on here tend to over-psu, but in your case, I'd really look for at least a little more power. The antec 850w is supposed to be excellent- I'd look at that.

BTW, if you're thinking about selling that psu, I might be interested. I'm really pushing mine too hard right now.

I got 8800GT sli, 6 fans, watercooling, 2 harddrives, 2gb ram and one dvd burner, I barely make it with 850w.. I would recommend atleast a 1000w good quality psu! Thermaltake thoughpower 1200w maybe?
