So do yall experience a 1,000 point loss when in vista? When looking around it looks like a 1,000 point loss is normal in vista.

Honestly, if you don't want problems with drivers and particular software stay away from 64bit OS's it's more of a headache sometimes and a luxury.

For god's sake, you're swapping OS's about just for a higher 3d mark score or what? Vista 64 is the way to go.

3dmarks do not translate into actual perfomance of any other program or the OS itself. It was made for 2006 and to run on XP too lol. If you have 4Gb 64 Vista is the best performing operating system imo.

Clearly the words of one who has never used Vista. It is, by far, the easiest to install, most stable, most straight-forward OS I have worked with so far. I have had 0 issues with it after nearly 8 months of using it. The only BSODs I have had have been due to unstable OCs. I have had no incompatibility save for one program for school, which I simply had to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode. Before you go bashing a perfectly good OS based solely on heresay from the RC1 released well over a year ago, try the thing.

WOW, i sense some animosity. I did not intend to piss anyone off, simply get information. I do thank you for your opinion and I will try vista x64. I do however Use windows Vista x86 on 2 computers (laptop and desktop) and I will tell you that performance does drop in ALL apps BUT I have NOT tried vista x64.

Sounds like you could be blaming an OS because of less-capable hardware. Just out of interest what is in the Lappy and desktop computer?
