Oh, really? This is news to me. Are you able to provide any solid points and reproducible claims as to why is sucks?

Please elaborate. What do you mean by "the drivers are a bit pathetic"?

Thats odd, my 3dmark score went up ~230 points in XP x64 over XP 32. I wonder what your issue is being caused by.

My problem could be the version or service pack. Not sure really.

Actually my 64 bit version is WAY more updated than my previous version ever was. In the end nLite worked for me because I only lost 500 3dmarks so I can't complain too much. I can live with that considering the OS is so much faster. Too bad photoshop isnt 64 bit yet

I would say with 4gbs and x64, your memory controller is defaulting your RAM to some different timings now..losing bandwidth? <- Have you checked already?

I have no issues using x64, and have improved all of my benchies over regular XP. Even for hardcore benching, x64 is still quite mod-able/strip-able. You might still have some OS tuning to do before you are satisfied.

*I am working on besting 15k with my 8800gt and Q6600 @ 3.6ghz, XP dropped my score around 800points, from 14,984... so close too.

It may be the version of windows being a newer one and having newer updates but comon, it cant make that much of a difference. I am willing to try NLite but If 32bit is faster i might as well use nlite on that, ya know.
I did lose similar amount of points in x64, but overclocking wise it was far more stable that xp32. Primarily using Vista 64 now and am quite happy with it's performance.

That is an interesting point. I checked CPU-Z and my timings are the same (5-5-5-15) the same as its always been. Should I change it???? I have never messed with memory timings before. 15K with an 8800gt????? I didnt know any that card would allow for that high of a score (even with that much of an overclock)/

You can always attempt a change.. a lot depends on your RAM and the FSB+CPU multi you are using.

PM if you would like some help.

So far, I have managed a 14,984points. My goal is to reach 15k @ or below 3.6ghz. I will get beyond 15k for sure.. [i just got this new mobo 3 days ago.. so still playing around] I have cut my RAM latency down to ~55ns [as measured by Everest] and managed a 735mhz core/ 1875mhz shader/2ghz vRAM : OC for my 8800.. [stock volts and cooling ] .. if I put the gpu on water and Vmod, I am sure I could break 16-17k.

You should of got Vista x64 instead the driver support is better and its good also.

In what way is driver support better? I'm curious because I am considering Vista 64 over XP x64.
