GPU folding farms take over?

Thread Starter
With these new GPU clients, I'm wondering if we're going to start seeing more gpu-based farms- I bet that a quad sli machine could push 20k/day!

a quad sli folder with a q6600 could be had for ~$1.5k; Are we gonna see people with 4 or 5 of 'em? 100k/day would be pretty incredible.

Disregard 'SLI' for folding, enabling SLI removes any multi-GPU CUDA ability, CUDA will only recognize one GPU if SLI is enabled.

On the other hand once they do enable multi-GPU for the folding client ('coming soon, sooner than you might think' they say) it'll be possible to run four 9800GX2s on one board, the one board with four dual-slot pci-e x16 slots, K9A2.

Might as well also run four 8800GTs on any regular single-slot spaced board with four of those for a more budgeted, but still capable rig.

There are still alot to be determined.

I advice people to WAIT (so I can pass you all j/k) until Stanford finalizes the points system.

actually come to think of it, you could probably fit 3 GX2s on one board

dannng!

and it appears that if the points are weighted, it will be TOWARD gpu folding, no?
