For me the internet is one big encyclopedia and I'm loving it
I agree, it isn't the same for everyone. I was just pointing out some people use it as a tool to make themselves look clever I think but don't actually research deep enough and actually learn anything. I've learnt most of what I know about computers from the internet in honesty and also a heck of a lot about roman republican history and some other bits and bobs If you've got a head for it and know where to look I think it is great, but I prefer a solid book on my lap

I will tell you what I love about the net though. So many points of view! And especially for history for example this is something that is strived for, biased or not. To get the clearest picture of what really happened you must see the point from as many angles as possible and the internet makes that so easy If you wanted to do that with books you'd have to search library after library, book by book lol.

I do understand your dislike for the term so don't mistake me, but be aware of what it is you don't like, it's just slang, there's always been slang and it doesn't mean you're stupid if you use slang, you're just stupid if you can't do anything but slang .
I agree that slang should be used to perhaps be ''Short and sweet'' or to be used for humour. However its just when its used repetedly and used in a context where its completely random and not needed where I find it ...a little annoying.

I wouldnt mind if someone actually constructed a sentance with the word ''FAIL''

Such as : ''I think this is FAIL because this CPU's architecture is not remotely as good as the other ones '' ETC

However it is annoying when you have a good intelligent conversation and some random guys comes in and says

'' YOUR FAIL''. ''EPIC FAIL'' '' UR TEH FAILS'' ''ALL ABOARD THE FAIL BOAT'' ETC

Get a sense of humour man! Joke I agree, especially when there is a good conversation going on. Lets ignore two of my previous posts

Honestly, I have never written a text message with abbreviations, except for "lol". I text full sentences, which, silly enough, makes people like my sister-in-law not want to text me, because they end up having to read a complete sentence on their phone (then again, I am using a Blackberry Curve so writing and reading complete sentences is easy on it).

The internet has helped me a lot, but at times I just can't STAND doing Google searches for things I am researching, primarily because of the inconsistency of the data. At times it is hard to find the truth of certain matters, and at times, it's almost as if there is TOO much info online. Gone is the need to go to the library to do research. Gone is the need to look at a newspaper for classifieds. Gone is the need to get off one's arse to find info. We can just sit down, type whatever it is we are looking for into the Google search field, and find whatever we need in a split second.

I have also been aware of the diminishing, uh, etiquette of online communication (if there was ever such a thing to begin with) and some sites (like Facepunch Studios) are just FULL of idiocy and the butchering of the English language.

Are teh intarwebz teh win? Or is our brainz beeing pwn3d while w3 sit an stair @ our El Sea Dee screenz?1!!one.

I TXT mostly in full sentences as I can txt rather fast. However I still use some txt talk such as '' u ok?'' ''wuu2'' ''wubu2'' and so on. They are useful when needing to txt in a hurry.

My texts are always incredibly long lol (up to 4 before it turns into an MMS). I have a full keyboard on my phone though so I can't help it lol, it feels more natural.

I do find myself occasionally wanting to actually say "lol" (pronounced lahl) out loud, lol.

I'm pretty sure that I've always had some form of ADD. I was never diagnosed with it, because I always found a way to get by in school.
But now the popular method to acquire information has adapted to that.
But is it bringing everyone else down with it? I'm not sure - but I know that the internet is more useful than an American public school system.

I like the fact that the internet is just a large compiled database of billions of pages of information. But yes I admit, when I get on the internet to research something. I want the information now without actually taking the time to fully research and comprehend what I am trying to understand. I'd rather have a few sentences that sum everything up then reading dozens or hundreds of sentences. But I'm trying not to do that as much.
