I've seen that too, now apparently the 55nm is the GTX+ in the end probably the 55nm AND the driver tweak will make a GTX++

Capitalism is not to blame if consumers don't spend time researching an investment. Do people simply rush in and a buy a new car, house, boat, ect sight unseen and completely uninformed? If so, they've burned themselves...

(IMHO) @ $229 this thing will cannibalize GTX260 sales. I think this goes to show how powerful a GPU ATI has ATM.
Good point, I thought it was more expensive.

Until nVidia release a single GPU based card as powerful as the GTX 280 but at a much cheaper price I'm sticking with my current 8800GT SLi.

Another Nvidia gimmick? They did the same thing with the 8800gts when they brought the G92 out with higher clocks and the die-shrink. They had a lot of success selling the G92's..

The ONLY difference here is the "+" they added to the name. Wouldn't suprise me one bit for them to bring out the other 9 series cards with similar tactics.

Marketing..

Since nVidia is obsessed with 80 variants per GPU series why dont they come up and or use viable names?
Instead of 8800GS GT GTS GTO GTX GX2 GTX+ GTS(g92) GTX (g92)
why not do something useful such as 8800, 8810, 8835 like CPUs?

ATI has THREE versions/GPU; 3850, 3870, and 3870x2 (4850, 4870, and 4870x2)

No wonder people want consoles instead of going through this easily avoidable headache.

i laughed when people suggested that this was just an OC'ed version. did everyone forget that its the partners that release Oc'ed versions of a reference card like SC,SSC,KO,XXX,AlphaDog etc?

Well, this will have lower power consumption, kind of like the 7950GT, so they should call it the 9850GTX or something like that.

Does any one know what (if anything) would keep a company from releasing cards that have slightly higher voltages?

IE an 8800GT with 1.25 vcore vs stock of 1.05-1.1?

It can easily be kept cool by a 2 slot cooler, and would be much faster than the competition.
