Vista install help please !!

Thread Starter
Hello, I have an issue with my PC and Vista x64 Home Premium.

Earlier today everything on my pc was great, there were no issues i just fancied reformatting my PC as I had alot of ununsed programs and such on there and fancied a bit of a spring clean.

So I popped in the Vista DVD and deleted the current single partition, then created 2 new partitions (primaries) and formatted those, then proceeded to install Vista on the first Partition (100gb for what its worth).

The install goes fine and it finishes, then my PC restarts and it begins to load up windows, the loading screen with the green progress bars come up and then the OS gets to about 3 bars passed then BSOD -> restart, every time.

I really don't know how to fix this, it was working fine before
This is happening on my sig rig, by the way.

Many many thanks in advance !
Alfie !

Hmm and now I can't get into safemode with it (I would edit but the 'most recent' posts get changed so much my cry for help dissapeared almost immediately).

I might try swapping around the ram modules to see if that helps :S

It could be a problem between your motherboard and memory.

I know there are plenty of motherboards out there that throw a fit when certain brands are put in, while other brands run with no problems.

I've done a bit of digging and it looks like it might be a Vista bug Suggestion is to update through Windows Update then install the ram module again.. So I guess i'l do just that

If nothing else, this has been an experience.. albeit a timely one.

I would update, and possibly run a memtest, it might be some bad RAM.

Hope you get this sorted out!

Darn thats alot of patching !
The strange this was, the first time I installed Vista I never had any of these issues? And just today the RAM was I suppose working fine (unless it had an underlying issue) as the OS was fully functioning before I reformatted.

If it is a RAM issue I don't suppose it could be just incredibly bad timing that both these things should happen at once? Anywho, I'm nearly done with the first load of patches so I shall have to restart no doubt, will check back here in a few
