ATI's will continue to be better folders. Their cards just pack more power than the nvidia ones. Look at the raw numbers baby, not game benchmarks.

The point distribution might be a little nvidia leaned in the beginning, but that will settle as more nvidia folders flood in the WU's.

I'm not talking speculation but the nvidia folding clients seem to be more effective then the ATi ones, still pissed I can't use both cores, and it was just a vague generalization that the nvidia card would fold faster.

Old news but still:

GPU2 PPD increase

With new revisions to the GPU2 core code, the GPU2 code is doing more science per ever in the same amount of time. In the spirit of having the points equate to how much science is being done, we are going to increase the PPD of the GPU2 benchmark machine (ATI 3850 board -- see the FAQ for details) to 1500 PPD. We will revalue the most recent WU's (472X) and all future WU's will use this new PPD for benchmarking.

You say "would" as in you don't know for sure, and claim that you're not speculating? Until we know for sure, it's speculation.

That statment makes no sense at all. yea they did said would cause they doent know for sure BECAUSE it is their opinion, but she isnt claim that it is fact or that it does go faster. I dont get what you were trying to get at.

Other than that, wait for actual benchmarks after release. Things change rather quickly in the industry and could wing depending on buisness moves. Also depends on what you are trying to do. if you want future x2 cards and you only have crossfire, easy answer, go ATi. If you dont care about that, then play the waiting game. The price arent going to be changing anytime soon.

no, making a statement like he did saying they "would" perform better, is not an opinion, he didn't say "I think", or "I feel"..he said he made a "vague generalization", which I'm not even sure makes sense. the user was claiming the new nvidia card will fold faster than the 4850. How can anyone know that? He said he wasn't speculating, but if he didn't know for sure, what else could his claims be considered??

Sorry guys,
I was trying to say that from what I've seen, the newer nVidia cards, the ones that are out now like the 9800GTX for example, seem to be folding faster and creating more PPD then the ATi ones. I've only been exposed to a 9800GX2, that my friend has, which was pumping out mad WU compared to my own 3870x2. So with this "trend", my thought was that it'll keep going on like that later on.

Also, notice that I said the nVidia card... Not, "Get the new 9800GTX+, it's crazy fast at folding!!!11!"

EDIT:

Some are running dual SMP with a Quad and the card fine too.... apparently the NVidia GPU client don't hog the CPU like the ATI GPU client does.

My GPU2 client uses ~18% of one of my four cores

And you also said ATi cards, not the 48xx series. So dude, calm down fanboy, its ok if other people think NVidia is better.
