Yup, thats what I always do. That's what seemed weird, I went to their site tho and they say not to spread it, just to put 3/4 of a bb size in the middle of the proc, twist the heat sink a couple degrees back and forth and go. seems to be better on test, on first test temps got to mid 50's in no time. Temps have gone down 5c after i put a bit in the middle.

So you think I would be safe going a tiny bit above what cpuz says for voltage then?

If you have the stock HS and your at a mid 50c range, it wouldn't be prudent to up the vcore yet. Let the AS5 cure and see where the full load temps are first.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Man, you are awesomely helpful Duke. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

I am going to get a new cooler too, the one that was recommended earlier in the thread.

So I have a slight oc on my new 6000, 3.1ghz, and the temps seem to stay about 50-51 under load. My 3dmark 06 score has gone from 9600 to 12400 in 3 weeks since I started to upgrade.

Yes it is! I still have a question tho, according to cpuz and 2 other progs I use, (everest and speedfan) my voltage is 1.39-1.40. I been looking in my bios and there is like 4 places to change voltages. The one I think I need goes from like 1.2 to like 1.6 or higher. There is another couple that just say "+.25, +.5" and so on. What should I use? I really just want a 3.2 stable overclock and the highest I get is in the screenie b4 I error out. I put up a screenie of the memory tab as well.

*edit* Just an update, I went in to the bios and set the voltage for the cpu to 1.425 but for some reason cpuz says its higher, and spikes at 1.5. Is this normal? I attached another screenie. It's the one farthest to the right.

So overclocking evidently turns me into a 4 year old asking a thousand questions a day, lol. Here is whats happening, I upped my voltages one notch and got what is in screenie #1. Should I up my voltage another notch?

*edit* The second screenie is my max stable oc at 1.375 bios voltage setting and 1.425 actual voltage. I wonder why its different? And is it normal for the voltage to spike when using prime95? It jumps up to 1.5.

Any thoughts anyone? I am a bit worried about upping my voltage too much. What's the max safe voltage I should use?

Doing good so far fuloran1! You're on the right track, just keep increasing the fsb and vcore until your temps start getting too high. You're probably reaching the limit with stock cooling. I would say that if you plan on keeping your cpu for awhile, I wouldn't increase the vcore above 1.55v. You should get a little more OC out of it when you get a new cooler, although these chips usually max out around 3.4 ghz.
