DeGauss ... I can see!

Thread Starter
So, when was the last time my monitor was degaussed? Possibly over a year.

While making a call on my cell phone, the monitor was acting very strange.

So, I pressed the menu button and then degaussed the monitor.

SHOCKING results.

The dim monitor actually got bright!

All day at work, I use an LCD screen. So, forgetting to degauss a CRT makes ones eyes sore. LOL

So, those who need too, degauss today.

your CRT monitor can actually store a magnetic field... craping out the image a little, or a lot...

degaussing as you may have guessed removes that magnetic field... normally via an electromagnet coil wrapped around the inside of the monitor...

if your monitor doesn't have an integrated coil... you can get one... or... get a few powerful magnets and a power drill...

Seems this board hates google video... so there's some less annoying links...

AKA...Wiping off the dust.

I remember back in the day when I had a CRT I use to degause now and again...I have to say thought my CRT was fairly good as I never NEEDED to degauss, I just did it out of habit more than anything.
