*pics* TRUE washer mod thingy - Page 10

you should be able to do the same if it needs it. without the washer the TRUE was kinda loose and you could move it around a bit but with the washer in there it was hard to move it at all.

I bought a big washer before the TRUE came in and I lapped it, but wanted to see how it fits prior to loading the washer.

The TRUE is screwed down completely and has absolutely no movement, it doesn't twist at all. would this mod be worth it for me? any benefit? I couldn't really tell if everyone's was sliding around or what.

GOMNADZ's looks like a big improvement, but I wonder if it had any movement prior to mod?

Overclocked to 3.8 (19x200) and temps are:
idle: 45-38-42-40
load: 65-58-60-58

Thanks all

im a bit sceptical .. when i mounted the stock True i was very worried about the pressure required.. it seems WAY more than any other cooler id used in the past. so ticking a washer in there seems like a bad idea !

o yes more pressure will result in lower temps im just not sure thats a wise idea.

i guess it's different for everyone. id probably do it if the cooler was as sloppy as some have suggesed ...

ANYWAY

i lapped my true and applied more pressure to it and got an awesome gain .. this doesn't surprise me since the base of the TRUE is so bad..

i did this in preparation for my air cooled TEC setup

i didn't bother with the washer i just used screws..

i found the stock system to be a REAL pain to get on in the first place, so there was no way i was gonna fit a washer too.

If I put a washer on mine, I swear i wouldn't be able to push the mounting screws down into the backplate holes.

Fitting the TRUE is like a military operation for me lol... Holding it straight, putting a few turns on each screw at a time, then giving it the two hands on the screw driver to get stupid tight.

yes its a real pain once you've done it once you'll never want to do it again especially in a tight case ... to get mine on i need an extra set of hands.

And this why i don't bother with them i just use bolts i mean it's simple as now. I dont know why they didn't do it this way in the first place

im using X fuzion v1 mounting screw and stuff
