Hi guys.

Which one wins in this instance?

2 8800GTS 640MB in SLI or 1 ATI 4850?

Thanks in advance.

Well 2 4850 in Xfire barely beat, okay 10%, 2 8800GT in SLI, so I would guess it would be about a tie.

The GTSs will win, but you have to buy a new motherboard to use them.

I think it'd be pretty close.. the 640 just might pull ahead, depending on resolution

IIRC the 640MB 8800GTS are the old G80, which were a tad slower than the GT. Therefore, as the 4850 in Xfire is faster than the GT in SLI, the G80 GTS would be slower.

Here a thread with some benchies of the 4850. Actually would rape a GTS. Hmmm probably my GT's as well.

I'm quite sure the G80s in SLI will pull ahead in some games but because of poor SLI scaling in the G80 the HD4850 might pull ahead on other games.

Price is under $190 for that card too. Super tempting.

you'll like the single card solution beter anyway, less heat + less power comsumption.
