Vista no longer boots? - Page 3

Did you have any luck with this? I seem to have run into the same problem. Overclocking my CPU, got a BSOD. Rebooted and the monitor loses sync. Vista seems to boot fine in the background.

Tried re-installing as well. Everything was fine until I installed the nvidia driver. That was the latest version from nvidia.com. Removed that in safe mode and tried installing the one I got on the install CD's and ran into the same problem again.

does your bios have a pci bus speed setting?

if so, make sure it's 100.

I've completely reset the BIOS by taking the battery out for 10 mins. Loading into BIOS, loading default settings from the CMOS just to be sure.

Using a PCIe video card.

I tested my video card on another machine and it worked fine there. I borrowed the video card from that machine which is an ATI card and am experiencing the same problem after I install the ATI driver.

Currently formatting the install and re-installing Vista in hope that will clear whatever is causing the problem.

Still had no luck after reinstalling.

I did read a thread that suggested trying different cables. So I plugged in an old VGA cable and it worked perfectly.

I'm yet to obtain a new DVI cable to test things.

I have no idea how an overclock causing a BSOD would affect a cable. That's got me puzzled.

OP is in the same boat

Im using a freaking VGA connection right now because I can't get the DVI to work.
If you could AIM me sometime or something maybe we can figure it out.

I'm using an Envision monitor, and Vista apparently detects it as a Non-PnP deice; no driver install will fix it. Nvidia detects it as an Analog signal; despite me going into the Control Panel of my monitor and setting it to Digital (perhaps it reverts?)

I doubt it's something we can't fix. I'm sick and tired of running in VGA Mode D:

What are your PC specs including Monitor? Perhaps we have similar hardware.

I just bought this monitor, it's not broken.
Restoring Vista (for the millionth time) does not work.

It looks like people are just taking stabs in the dark.

Thats what trouble-shooting is. People only want to help
Can you get your hands on a new DVI cable?
