Why not use a video card that supports true HDMI with sound incorporated?

I use a cheap HD2400 pro with a cheap ati DVI to HDMI converter. Works like a charm. No extra wires. Bluray ready!

The onboard sound card produces perfect sound via the digital out, plus the analog is fine as well.

Seems like neweggs site is messed up at the moment, those links don't work. So I can't see your rig.

I guess it depends on what the PC will be driving... TV, Surround Sound Reciever etc.

The best way is to get a reciever that allows multiple HDMI inputs, so you can run the PC, Cable Box/Sat, dvd/bluray player and output a single HDMI to your tv..

Less wires. The reciever does the switching, plus it allows pass through so you don't need the reciever to be on and can use your TV's built in speakers for all your components and when you want big sound, you can turn on the reciever for your surround setup.

But as for a sound card, the onboard is probably just fine.

Good question... I don't have one myself, but it's near the top of my list.. My current HTPC has an old outdated receiver at the moment, but everything else is basically set for when I make the purchase..

I haven't really been searching around for recievers lately.

I'm sure the multiple HDMI input recievers are going to be a bit more than a standard one..
