help ocing P4 3.2ghz

This chip is in a beginners gaming computer that I lend out to my friends it can handle G.O.W and COD4 nicely but it needs a little extra boost to get thoes desired FPS. currently its setup is

P4 3.2ghz skt 478
2GB DDR pc2700 i think
7900 GS AGP
Foxconn 661MXPlus mobo

I wanna get the cpu to only 3.35 or 3.36 ghz but I can only get it to a 25mhz! OC.
Temps arnt bad 35 idle and 50 load theres plenty of air flow in the case.

I had to change out the mobo on this cause the other one died and idk if its limiting the performance or what but I just cannot get this thing stable.

never oced those but since they use a larger NM then i think they wont get very high on air maybe on water you could get 3.5 but that proc is already really high. you'll see a bigger performance getting a new mobo with a pci-e slot so you can get a 4850!

I had a 3.0E Skt 478 that easily went to 3.75 without increasing voltages at all. The RAM is probably what's holding you back, although that mobo does NOT have a good chipset to be overclocking with. The chip will go higher, but there's something else holding you back. Does that mobo have onboard graphics? If so, disable it in bios and give it a shot!

I know people have done it, I have seen the prescotts well into the 4ghz range, the major thing is heat, they are well known for running very hot in the 478 and lga775 sockets, I have one that idles at 55c and runs at 65 under load, no matter how much air I throw at it, being that you have a water block and im assuming pump setup than you should be good to go. What motherboard are you using?

Foxconn 661MXPlus mobo

I know I can OC it a good amount cause ive gotten it to at least 3.4(i think) stable but for some reason when I switched to this motherboard I cant get anything i can do a VERY marginal (like 10-20mzh) oc and have it be stable. Other wise orthos gives me a error like 30min in. Heat isnt a really big issue its at 50C maybe 52 load depending if its night or day. I have room to oc it more just on air temp wise i just cant get it stable.

oh and its northwood hehe I didnt know if the other mobo could handle the 1mb cache so i got the 512 massive cache monster thing :

Oh so its a northwood, that would explain the good temps lol. I looked up your board and noticed that it supports a 400mhz and 533mhz FSB natively, the 800mhz FSB is an overclocked setting to support your northwood, I bet that it doesnt have much headroom over 800mhz fsb to allow you to clock further. Im not certain but I think this might be why....
