E8400 running at 2GHz, should be 3GHz, help

Hi
Yes im a noob.
I recently flashed my bios from version 1001 to 1305. This was my first time at flashing my bios, and every thing seemed to go over well.
I didnt realise that my CMOS gets reset during this process and i'm now scrambling to get my PC in order again. I first enabled my raid so i could actually boot up again and everything else is set as default.
My question now is what do I change in order to get my CPU to run at 3000MHz as opposed to 2000, I figured out how to set my memory speed, but i'm lost as far as this CPU speed goes.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe whats happening is your cpu is throtteling down since it doesn't have a high load, it's meant 2 do that.

yup, try running orthos or prime95 and THEN open cpu-z or whatever to check ur clock speed.

I'm using a program called AI Suite, it came with my Mobo package, It tells me my CPU is running at 2000 MHz. before i flashed my BIOS im almost 100% positive it would read at 3000MHz.
Also I checked in my BIOS and under the overclocking section it tells me this:

CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
E8400 @ 3.00 GHz

CPU Speed 2.00 GHz

CachRam(L2) 6144k

This is typed exactly how it appears in my BIOS, I'm nearly positive that it didn't read this way before i flashed and wiped my CMOS.

Any recomendations apreciated, and thanks for the help/input so far.

you need to disable C1E and Speedstep in your bios

I did this and Asus AI Suite still shows my CPU running around 2000MHz.

Try it on CPU-Z. Not that I don't trust AI Suite, but motherboard software is not the greatest overclocking tool

The default speeds for the E8400 is a 9x multiplier and 333 fsb. Make sure those are still the same in the bios. If so, then your motherboard is throttling your cpu in Windows while not under load. As mentioned, try running orthos/prime95 and then use cpu-z to se what it says.
your multiplier is at x6. my bios resets it to that when i clear cmos as well. change it to x9 and you will be fine.
