CRT's are only good now for gaming. Their very high refresh rates (120hrtz or better) can provide 120 real frames per second, where a normal LCD would be doing 60 or 75.

LCD's however almost always are sharper, though only at their naitive resolution. They also can have better image color and depth, though LCD's that beat a good CRT in this manner usually are expensive ($300 and upwards).

I would get an LCD anyways, the space and power that you save is INSANE, plus their far easier on your eyes.

The only thing I truly love about LCD's is they don't give off nearly as much heat as CRT monitors do. And less space.

If it wasn't for competitive UT2004/UT3 I'd love my LCD - unfortunately I hate it with a passion.

So hard to find a used high-quality CRT...

The advantages of both have been spelled out by now, so you can't blatently state that 'LCD>CRT'

Now, your LCD 26" cost you a pretty penny I believe. comparing it with a cheapo 17" CRT would not be fair... you should at least compare to a similarly priced CRT.

I have a nice 21" Sony G520, which is pretty dang awesome. It replaced a 22" Viewsonic LCD (not a shabby monitor by any means). No way I am going back

LCD has higher resolutions? Man, I guess I have to suffer with 2048 x 1536 then.. at 80Hz nontheless. Refresh rate = response time?? Incorrect. The response time of a CRT is near zero (as in nanoseconds), while a good LCD gets 2ms (not noticable to the eye), so obviously a CRT isn't worse in this aspect. Refresh rate is a totally different issue, which doesn't play much of a role with LCD's... but then again, with a high-quality CRT it isn't an issue either. Image quality? I take CRT for color reproduction any day. Yeah, the LCD is a tiny bit sharper, but only noticable so in a side-to-side comparison.

Thus, CRT is my choice. I am hunting for another one

Me too Its become exceptionally hard to find a GOOD CRT these days. Most of the stuff still being sold is mediocre at best.
