No not that card IMO. If you can swing it nab the GTX 280, or even the 9800gx2

You don't need an upgrade given the monitor your playing on which is 1680x1050 resolution. You should see small upgrades with a 9800GTX but it isn't worth it IMO.

Stick with the 8800GTX because little game out there need more power then a 8800GTX can deliver.

Well truthfully the GTX 280 is a massive GPU upgrade that goes way beyond res. BUT I do believe the GTX or Ultra is plenty for now.

Now the 9800gx2 isn't a good idea imo, unlike the GTX 280.

Well given your resolution you wont see an upgrade by buying a more powerful card, with a 9800GTX you might get better performance but its too trivial to call it an upgrade...more like a side grade in terms of performance. If you want less heat, more overclockability and less power consumption then I suppose you can still call it an upgrade if you stay at your current res.

Your current sig rig is not bad at all man. The one thing I personally would upgrade, though it's honestly NOT a major upgrade is the motherboard. Since you seem to like the nVidia chipsets spring for the 750i.

If you never plan on SLI (9800GX2 included) go with a nice P35 or P45 MOBO. Right now the only P35 board that's just as good as any P45 is the Abit IP35Pro XE (on paper) even though the IP35Pro is honestly just as good as it and any P45 if you dont plan on using DDR3.

There's lots to consider though.
