6600GT Users! - Page 3

My old rig had a 6600GT with a crappy 3.0 GHz Intel (socket 438...bleh) in it. Played KOTOR on high settings, most other games ran very well on medium. It probably could run COD4 at the bare minimum settings but I'm skeptical...

The 6600GT was a great card, though!

I have a friend that has a pair of 6600GTs in sli and he runs some of the newer games close to high...though AA will kill him. I think the 6600GT was pretty much the begining of the really powerful (and power hungry) GPUs.

You'll like it.

Oh how nice it would be to go back to the days of the <100 watt card.

I remember having a 5800 Ultra and thinking it had to take a MASSIVE amount of power (and generate the corresponding heat) for the amount of noise the thing made. then i found out that the noise was unstoppable. and then my dad stepped on it.

6600GT though, great GPU, mad propz

I was able to play Doom 3 at medium settings. It was playable.

In multiplayer in D3 in order to get 60FPS flat (or close to), I had to turn all settings to low, except the resolution which was 1280x1024.
