Q9450 Temperature Problems

Thread Starter
I just rebuilt my PC to make sure everything is installed properly. Took off the heatsink and put a shot of AS5 and made sure that the heatsink is A-OK. I turn on the pc and went to bios and set everything to stock. I got into windows and started real temp and it gave me the following temperatures:

Core Temperatures:
Core 1 - 55°C
Core 2 - 39°C
Core 3 - 40°C
Core 4 - 40°C

Is this a software problem or is it a bad cpu? Thanks for the help ^_^

i dunno about real temp... id check core temp as thats what most people go by. as a general rule on the quads, 5-7 degree differentials on cores are perfectly normal. as to 16c differences... i dont know. it could be the AS5 just needs time to cure. my temps went down 5c after a week of installation.

Core Temp reads:
Core 0 - 71°C
Core 1 - 54°C
Core 2 - 54°C
Core 3 - 54°C

That's OMG wth! something is really wrong with this. maybe i'll just let AS5 to cure see if there's a difference in temp. Thanks though.

And you did reseat the HSF?

Make sure it's not just your temp sensors stuck on the processor - my Core 0 and Core 2 are stuck, they won't go below 35C

Yes i did reseat the HSF, i ran the test sensor on real temp and it gave me these readings:

Core 0: Sensor Movement 9
Core 1: Sensor Movement 9
Core 2: Sensor Movement 6
Core 3: Sensor Movement 7

The temperature readings are:
Core 1 - 56°C
Core 2 - 41°C
Core 3 - 41°C
Core 4 - 41°C

could it be that something is wrong with the dts on core 1?

Probably, I think they either skimped a bit on the quality of the sensors OR no program knows how to truely read them correctly and consistently accurrate.
