Crossfire X - HD3850 + HD4850 - Page 2

Do you guys think that you'll be able to crossfire a 3870x2? If so then I might just pick up a 4850 instead of a 4870.

Awesome, as soon as my 4850 gets here I'll run my 3870 in my PCI-E x4 slot
post #13 of 22
I very much doubt it will run well, or if it runs at all I saw a 2900 and 3870 in CF, but that was with hacked drivers.

I have seen that it seems to work - you do not need 2 of the same card - that is in Nvidia SLi - not crossfireX

Please someone here tryit if you have a X38/48 chipset

BTW: Penicilyn - a HD3870 in a 4x slot will not be very fast at all - my old 7900GS was limited in a 4x slot - and a HD3870 would be near twice as powerful

I am buying an X48 board and I might pick up a 3870 or 3850 to go with the 4850 which I already got at Best Buy for $150. I hope that'll run pretty well.

Well I just got my 4850 today and she's a beauty, runs GRID at absolute max 8xAA no problem

Now it's time to put my 3870 in my 2nd slot and she how they play together.

Wish me luck.

Sorry for the late reply.

I plugged in the 3870 and the bomb dropped. I my system would keep restarting as soon as my desktop came up, I'm assuming it's because I'm only running a 500Watt power supply (odd as I could run two 8800GTS' no problem)

Whats the power draw on a 4850 and 3870?
It's super buggy at the moment. Nothing to do with your power supply
