although its still a ok game, its not metal gear solid type gameplay, you have to play one of the originals from ps1 or ps2.

I was hard pressed between the PS3 and PSP but I got the PSP. Doesnt mean I dont plan on getting the PS3 anymore. I used to always get the big gaming machines since my Atari 2600, 5200, Nintendo, N64, Ps2 and the list goes on. If I didnt have the system I played my neighbors like the Sega master system, Sega Genesis, Turbographix, 3DO, and that list goes on. Growing up I only knew like 1 person with a handheld and drooled over it. My next buy will be a PS3 or PS4 if its out. My friend from work now has the PS3 and he loves it and has nothing bad to say about it. I mean how many people can say they played with Rob the Robot.(What a fiasco by the way)

One of the major factors that I considered when choosing a PS3 or 360 was the fact that so many of my friends regularly tell me that they're terrified to play their 360 because they're scared of getting the RRoD. Conversely, my PS3 has been running 24/7 for 5 weeks now without a problem in sight.

Let's see...

PS3 is the most powerful console out there in the moment, and it's barely being used to it's fullest. They have really good series:

Metal Gear Solid: If you haven't played them, you must. Get all four of them. Right now.

Devil May Cry: Simply fun and entertaining, good for stress relief. Get 1,3,4. 2 sucked.

Final Fantasy: Couldn't skip that one. Play the classics if you feel like it, but I'm hoping FF13 will not turn out like another FF12, but in general, they're amazing games.

I was always into these three series so of course my pick was already done. I picked mine up with Rock Band(which is equally amusing), and I managed to get ahold of a 80GB/MGS4 limited pack, so I'm fairly happy with my luck.

If the price tags scares you, get a Wii. It's not nearly as powerful, but it can be a lot of fun as well.

I personally enjoy my PS3 a lot, but I'm not sure if I'd want to leave it on 24/7 folding. I've read things about PS3's consuming a lot of power, and on the other hands, people that said it didn't. I'm assuming it doesn't.

Still I believe it's an incredible console, and they're still developing ways to use it to it's fullest. Don't get a XBox 360, I don't want to sound biased, though I will be, but unless you need something to heat your room during the winter, an emergency toaster, or a blue backlight in your room when it crashes(exagerating here, incase you wonder, but just bringing the stereotype up), then you might want to pick one up. You shouldn't buy a console you'll be scared to power on. :<

Thread Starter
Ok guys again I want to say that this is not a thread asking whether to buy a 360 or a PS3.

I already have a 360.

Alot of people have raised some good points about the ps3, media streaming, games like MGS4 and FF13 (and a personal favorit UT3), not to mention that it does have a better track record than the 360 in terms of reliability.

I think that I will buy a PS3 eventialy, just not right away like I said in the original post. The main reason for this is that I have recently bought Grid and DMC4 for the 360 which will last for a while.

But dont stop the discussion its getting pretty interesting. And you still may get me to go out and impulse buy a PS3.

Ill give out some rep for anyone who is helpfull. Try not to flame though.

EDIT: I have a Wii too...

I've had my PS3 for about two weeks, (along with my 32" 1080P HDTV )
And I've gotta say I'm blown away. I've played the 360 a bunch, and it's.. eh, well, it's fun yes, but the PS3 just feels right
Burnout Paradise is utterly addicting, and Rockband is fun as usual.
The graphics are stunning, not to mention the customization tickles my fancy quite a bit.
Ontop of that, it doubles as an extremely good looking HTPC as well, (If you have it networked, at least.)
If I'm out in the living room and want to watch a movie or listen to music, I just hit a few buttons and I've got my entire media library sitting in front of me, ready to go.
I haven't even mentioned linux yet.. good lord, that adds another realm to the PS3, as well as the option of upgrading the HDD to a 120, 200, 250, or 320GB.
The fact that it has a built in web-browser is nice as well, if you have a keyboard handy it's a bit less of a hassle, but still workable for a quick cheat lookup or two if you've only got the controller around.
Blu-ray is a given.
Matter'o'fact, the only things that I don't like about my PS3 is that it can't play PS2 games (Sony will be hearing from me about this.) and that it collects dust a bit too easily for my taste.
Nitpicking? I think so

Overall, it's got oodles of features that the 360 doesn't have, and it's a bit more future-proof than the 360 as well.
I say go for it mate

EDIT: Not trying to flame the 360, mind you. It's a great machine as well, I'm just partial to the PS3 ^_^

Oh, one more thing:

Bluetooth!

The standardization of the PS3 is great. The fact that you can buy any off-the-shelf 2.5" SATA hard drive and use it, or any Bluetooth mouse or keyboard, and MOST webcams, rather than having to buy stuff specifically for the PS3.

Also, I'm not sure if you give a damn about folding or not, but as everyone knows, the PS3 is great at that.
