Steam causes computer to not go into S3 sleep

Thread Starter
I have 3 computers that would all automatically go into S3 sleep after a period of inactivity. This works great for saving power and allows the systems to be ready for use in a few seconds. After installing the Steam client on them, none of them automatically go into S3 sleep, just normal suspend where video turns off but fans are still powered up. The 3 systems are all different setups as far as components, but all are running XP Pro SP2. Any ideas on how to get these going back into S3 automatically?

Don't run steam?
It seems that Steam is somehow tricking windows into thinking it is active.

Does anyone know if Steam involves P2P?

I usually exit out of it, but my kids never remember. With Steam running, I can still manually put the machine into standby, but it will not do it on its own.
