My buddy and I congratulate them on things that we know have to be happening in their lives, weddings, divorces, kids, etc. We're hoping that because of his security clearance one of these days they'll break into the conversation and ask us to stop It's an old joke but hey, still funny.

makes me want to start every phone conversation with the trigger words like bomb and terrorist so they waste time going over a phone call.

nice read.

Sidenote: The "upgrade" to 'Echelon' would be the hardware fiber-repeaters in the underground facilities below DT SanFran. Before the main fiber hubs of the city pass into the carriers network, they run through a series of repeaters that stream to...no one knows where..

Kind-of interesting that the former AT&T employee, that made claims of the 'secret internet tap' AT&T allegedly performed for the military... has not made trail yet. "They" can push it off indefinitely..or until the gentleman dies, of old-age.. I guess.

I did this at the time the bill was first up for vote in the House and wrote my Representative expressing my concern over the immunity clause. I got a letter back essentially saying that he realizes people don't like to be monitored, but all Americans must make hard sacrifices to remain safe.

And understand something - there is no one that our "security" agencies trust less right now than out of uniform Marines. Last time the country was this divided and unhappy half to three-quarters of the Corps signed up to fight for the Confederacy.

You're wondering how the NSA can spy on people, look up project Echelon. Back in the seventies every telephone conversation was run through a series of supercomputers spread out across the US listening for keywords. The only reason that we know about it at all is because they likely have something quite a bit better now. Next time that you speak to someone on the phone, take some time out to say hello to Bob the NSA Guy, I'm told from a friend at the FBI that it really annoys them.

While I do not say hi to Bob, I do make it a point to hello to all the fine folks listening in on the American people.

...Growing up now leads we to worry about the future I will see. When I am an adult living in this country, what will this country be? I don't think teenagers should really have to contemplate concepts like this... oh wait, they don't.
I sadly think I do think too much.

And when you try to calmly explain that living is inherently unsafe and therefore we'd prefer to live in a state of liberty rather than fear, they ignore you completely.

No not at all my friend. Ignoring these things got us here in the first place. "thinking" is what needs to happen.
