The 2600 is a poor performer overall, and at that price, an incredibly poor value. If that's your price range, the 3850 is $130 after rebate here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102730

If you can find an x1950xt(x) for cheap, then go for it.

I vote for a computer overhaul.

That being said I vote for the 2600 AGP or 3850 AGP

Not arguing but just learning.

He has an Athlon 64 3400+ and ValueRAM...is he really going to notice a difference between the two? I would figure there'd be a bottleneck on both sides of the 1950 and 2600.

Or maybe it doesn't matter?

hmmm im gonna go take a look at that forum. as far as for a bottleneck, the biggest problem im probably going to face is lack of power. If i get a 3800 series card it needs 450w power supply. mines 350. with my 3400+ and the value ram I have, its ok for now because I have it overclocked and it seems to be handeling ok. my 2.4ghz CPU is running at 2.58 and Ive messed with the ram timings a little to make them go faster as well.

basically, if I cant find a decent card that can keep me going another 6 months to a year for lets say under 75, then im going to wait a month or two, save up, and buy an updated rig. even if I make the plunge to a new setup, I want to keep it under 300 but have a good enough mobo to be able to update the parts as time goes buy.

Here is my other thread that I have started to soo what you all think about the stuff I picked out.
