Well the 4870 comes out mid July, it's 10-20% faster than the 4850.

Drivers my friends, drivers are what you're missing. The 4870 will always be faster than the 4850, otherwise they'd be named differently.

What about the 4870X2? Will it be out by summer's end?

Hey, don't these specs look very odd? Not only the R770 has 800sp, but the GDDR5 has speeds of 2200 (4400DDR) at stock.

We'll know soon enough.

Thanks. It will quite likely be my next choice, I usually ricochet from Nvidia to Ati and back and then back again.

I wish we could figure out if these cards have 480 or 800 sp's. Performance kinda points towards 480 but gpu-z and some reviews say 800 so I don't know. I'm a little disappointed with the 4850 so far, I was really hoping it would be clearly faster than any current gen nVidia except the GX2 and the GT200 series. The benches that I've seen so far have it running about neck in neck with the 8800GTX and the 9800GTX, that was before the hotfix though. I wonder if the DDR5 on the 4870 makes much of a difference.

It's good to see some stronger ATI cards coming out, but I am still content in getting my GX2, seeing as they are now $429 at Newegg.
