One with 512mb mem and 480shaders.
and one with 1g mem and 800 shaders.

No that would put it below the 4850.
Its 4850= 800 Steam Processors 512 MB GDDR3
4870=800 Steam Processors 512 MB GDDR5 with higher core clock
They both use the Rv770 core which has 800 Steam processors or 160 shaders.
Any AIB partners (Asus etc) are allowed to release 1 GB versions of the 4870.
