Does OCing 4 gigs (3 gigs) in vista 32 bit add unstbility?

Like the title asks, why? b/c not overclocking my system runs fine, no blue screens, total stability etc. But even OCing my ram a little gets me random blue screens. So does anyone know how much (if any) instability OCing 3 gigs in a 32 bit system adds? (with the latest updates)

It depends how high and if you are supplying enough voltage to the overclock. You are also supposed to stress test the ram.

Thanks, but I'm hardly OCing (840 native: 800) and (555-10 native: 555-9), the voltage is fine at 2.0. I just never had this problem when using only 2 gigs. So I can make and assumption, but I wanna kno for sure if using 3 gigs in 32 bit is whats causing the instability.

You are fine up to 2.2v on the ram voltage. Try uping your NB voltage a bit. Since you have more ram in use, it stresses the NB more.

WHOA! Lower that down immediately. I have heard the same also for P35 chipsets.

Edit: Ah scared me there for a second.

Different RAM overclocks differently. Some RAM will go well beyond its specified limit, but some won't be stable 10MHz over it's rated speed. Looks to me like you've got some that's specifically binned for 800MHz, and no more. No huge loss, though. Keep your RAM frequency at 800MHz and focus on getting your CPU speed up.

Thanks all. I'mm getting the 64 bit upgrade in the mail some time next week so I will OC and stresstest my ram in 4gig config and give an update on weather there is a difference.
