Im not sure where to ask this, and I didnt find much in the search. what should I use to clean my mother board and heat sinks? Iv noticed that its collected allot of dust, and might be making it hotter than it should be. Any suggestions? Thanks

Compressed air.

I saw my load temps drop from the mid 50's to the high 30's when I cleaned out my HSF and motherboard.

Well I wouldnt expect you to see more than a 5C drop, but a good old can of compressed air can be gotten for 5-8$ locally.

What heatsink you have? If it really is concerning you, you could take it out and clean it under water (remove fans and other stuff from it first, of course). A lot of times, taking a piece of cloth to it can help a lot as well.

When I deep clean my PC, I usually take most of the stuff out. If I had a compressor, I wouldn't bother...but I don't own one of those.

Ya. I use the one I actually got with my case. Fibercloth is the bomb!

Just make sure not to get anything that will have an electric current running through it.

If you clean your heatsink off, make sure you use a lint free cloth so a spark from the part doesn't catch it on fire.

Just remember the obvious things like turn off your computer, and make sure to ground your self by touching a metal object.

Back in the day I lost my 5200fx to caked up dust. It overheated and fried. I use compressed air on mine. If not i use the cloth that comes with new glasses (the eye kind) that works well. Just ground yourself and unplug the PC.
