HP DV5000 LCD Inverter replacement Instructions Needed

Thread Starter
I've had my refurbished HP DV5000 for almost 2 years and have been using it as my main computer, so it's been running pretty much constantly since I got it. Recently it started having intermittent display problems. The LCD would go darK. Soon the display would only stay lit for a few minutes after restart. Now it will only stay lit for a second or two, then go dark. After talking to a couple of computer techs and doing a little research on the internet, I'm pretty sure I need to replace the inverter board. They are available on eBay and I have electronic component level repair experience, but hae never taken a laptop apart and am looking for dis-assembly/re-assembly instructions so that I can order the inverter and do the replacement. Any help finding this information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dale

HP also has the manuals on their site. I used them to change my LCD before on my old laptop. They are thorough. You pretty much have to take the entire thing apart to get to the LCD parts, so make sure you have a big work area and mark all the screws.

I replaced the lcd on my dv5000z you gota take the keyboard off about 8 screws i thk i recall under the laptop then their should be 2-3 holding the lcd on. You will have the cable that connects the lcd to the laptop and your wirless cables you will need to unhook those also.

hello do you still have your dv5000 ? dose it has the NVIDIA 7400 go graphics.
if so i really need your help.

my mother board died so i bought a replace ment that had the nvidia graphics.
my dead one was intel 950 onboard graphics.

they are the same board. only thing is the screen cable pins that connects to the motherboard are wired different . i have search every where no on has them . and hp said they no longer sells that part. the sticker on the screen cable should have this number DC0200006H00

so am asking you if you dv5000 has a nvidia graphics , could you please take it apart and lift the tape a bit on both sides of the screen cable both sides the bit that goes to ,motherboard and the bit that connects to the back of the screen and end take 4 pictures for me. in order to see the color code so i could rewire a cable to fit my screen.
its a lot to ask but am really desperate and you would help a guy in need . regards
