looking to build for 600-700 w/questions

Hi all,
this is whats going on and maybe you can answer some of my questions?
i'm looking for a new system. i can buy a dell insp 530 for about $650 thats with discounts and shipping. my config is Q6600 , ddr2-800 at 2gb, intgrated sound, cheapest vid card, will buy 8600gt card, 500gb ata hard drive, 16x dvd/rw, 1505 wiresless card, and xp pro.
should i use xp pro as to vista with vista system i can save another $60.
i heard vista has lots of problems?

now should i get this and do the bridge/tape overclock to 3.0/ 1333 and is this good to do?

as to buy/build one from infinty systems plus inc for as current $508 my config is q6600 , asus p5k-e board, basic fan, iMicro CA-IMJ230P black case,
I-Micro 400W, STT DDR2-800 2GB, 80GB SATA 7200( i have new 400GB sata), 52X CD-ROM(i have lightscribe dvd/rw), vid onbaord(will replace with 8600gt /512 for about $80), sound onboard, networking onboard, (will buy xp pro x64 for about $80) and comes with warranty 3yrs parts and labor.

now i do want to over clock to a safe speed nothing insane,LOL( maybe later)

Can you overclock a dell CPU?

yes you can do on the cpu itself by bridging or taping a pin, search for it

oh ok...

Well, check and see if that motherboard has an expandable PCI-E slot, most Dells that don't offer an additional video card would not have a spare slot. Sometime you would get a cheap motherboard without a PCI-E slot too, so watch out for that one.

For that other system there, go with that one, for only 500 bucks that looks pretty good. You might want to invest a bit more and get yourself a HD4850 to put in there, or a 9800GTX instead of getting that 8600 GT and XP Pro x64. Compatibility issues still run rampage on 64-bit OS by what I'm hearing.

Why not just build it yourself and save money and buy the best parts you can?
