How far should i push pc5300 Ram???

Thread Starter
Right now i have 4GB of pc 5300 ram running at 667mhz. With my Q6600 at a 3ghz and 333x9 fsb it is running at 1:1. I have pc5300 because when i did the build I also happened to have 4G laying around so i didnt have to drop 200 dollars. I just want to know how far I can SAFELY push this ram. Prefferably something that will run stable 24/7.

Well I bluescreened at 3.4 ghz but it could be that the MB didnt like the FSB. I was stable at 3.2 (710mhz Ram). Is this pushing it too far?

With no knowledge of the kind of ram you have (4x1gb 2x2gb) brand, timings, rated volts, etc. To put it simple ram can go a fair bit higher than rated by loosening timings and upping memory volts safely 0.2-0.3 from rated. possibly more but active cooling is recommended.

To find the mem's max lower the cpu multi or put a divider in for the memory 4:5 for example and use memtest to check the stability of the memory http://www.memtest.org/
